Highs & Lows

Posting late Wednesday night, since i've been slammed at work all week. Figure it might be easier to break the week so far down into bullet points, since a lot has been going on...

Highs

• The weather. Um HELLO spring summer whatever this is. i got 3 words for ya. See ya Uggs! back into the closet you go and HELLO new flats!
• Speaking of flats, i can't seem to stop spending. But, i've gotten some decent stuff that i'll be posting about on the blog when i have some more time.
• I finally beat Level 102 of Candy Crush Saga. Yes, this is a high. Yes, this is embarassing. #getalife
• After hitting up about 5 stores, i finally found a coveted nail polish (which you'll see in my Nail Files link up on Friday)
• House of Lies Pain Cupcakes. G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S. i may be actually contemplating eating my second of the day as i type this...

Lows

• Allergies. Comes with the weather. As does a stinkbug i just had to kill since hubby's working late tonight. For a hot minute, i seriously thought about knocking on my next door neighbors door to come kill it.
• Remember those flats i was so jazzed about wearing? They came complete with huge painful blisters on my heels. Both of 'em. I was practically crawling through Target to get to the Band-Aid aisle.
• Laundry. It's a pain in the buttski. I have 2 loads waiting to be folded. Ain't nobody got time fo' dat! 
• My car, Salti is not happy. Her Aux Jack broke this week... in addition to the oil change, tire rotation, pressure sensor and probably brakes needing service, this is no bueno.
• And lastly, this sweet little face is no longer with us... my cousin lost her best friend this week and we're all so so sad.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

that i was a blog slacker all week so far. once again due to being so busy at work. i know i know, story of my life. LOL

that i dropped $20 on pink hair extensions yesterday. BUT they were for a good cause.

Weekend Fun

Hello Lovelies! Happy (or unhappy) Monday!

Another long week ahead of us... let's hope it flies by!

Our weekend was pretty low key.  We were hoping for some sun so we could hit the beach or the pool, but mother nature had other ideas.

Friday night after work we headed to dinner at our favorite Greek restaurant called Taverna Ouza.

Its this cute little place with the most authentic and delicious greek food. G got lamb chops (his favorite) and i got fire-grilled salmon with avocado tziki (sp?) sauce... it was amazeballs. G's Staten Island friends were in town for the night so we met up with them for some drinks and good conversation.

Saturday, our designated beach/pool day got off to a chilly start. G had to do a quick HVAC call, and afterwards we grabbed some lunch. My parents were at a BBQ so we headed to their house to let the dogs out (who let the dogs out... we did, omg corny!) And then we went to see Batman.

Great movie, anne hathaway made the perfect catwoman. And i love Joseph Gordon-Levitt, he's just the cutest. Definitely a go-see movie. Though i still love the previous Batman with the Joker more. Unfortunately, with how loud the movie was, i came home with a killer migraine and was pretty much dunzo for the night.

Sunday, G had to work, so i lounged in bed, and watched The Roommate. Which was possibly one of the worst "thrillers" i've seen. Don't waste your time on it. Thought I 'd like it because i love me some blair waldorf (aka Leighton Meester) but... let's just say, the script and the acting were equally horrible.

By Sunday afternoon, i dragged my lazy ass to the grocery store, which i was dreading. But on the way i was able to make 1 fun pit stop at Joyce Leslie. I really haven't shopped at that store in years. If i'm going cheap, i prefer Forever 21 or Target. But my cousin had mentioned they had some cute maxi dresses there, so i figured i'd check it out. Scored an adorable blue and black striped maxi (sorry no pic yet)... and this fun cell phone/wallet case. Don't you just love the bright pink?

Once I was done with all my shopping, i headed to my parents house for some good home cooked dinner. #moocher.

This weekend i went to not just one, but TWO dine-in movies. What a great concept... dinner/drinks while AT the movies. AND you get a comfy, spacious leather chair with plenty of leg room to boot! Whoever thought of this fabulous movie going experience is a genius! And the price isn't even that much higher... for an extra $2 i'll take it (price doesn't include food or adult bevvies)... they also have a bar right outside the theater to hang out before or after the movie you're going to see. G and I ended up at the sports bar on the other side of the mall since we didn't know this. But next time, its one stop shopping for us!

AMC Dine-In Movies

So, Saturday night, we were supposed to double date with G's best friends... but one of them got sick (he's ok now)... so we ended up selling those tickets to the people on line next to us. We saw 50/50...

Here's the summary via IMDB: Inspired by a true story, a comedy centered on a 27-year-old guy who learns of his cancer diagnosis, and his subsequent struggle to beat the disease.

This was a great movie! It had great actors, a lot of funny parts and was so heartwarming! I won't give away the ending, but i definitely would recommend checking it out. Seth Rogen was his usual dirty mouthed but hilarious self, while JGL was just plain adorable! Bryce Dallas Howard and Anna Kendricks both held their own as well.


Sunday afternoon, i met up with caryn for a little lunch and What's Your Number. Her and i are both big Anna Faris fans so we knew this movie would be right up our alley... and it definitely didn't disappoint.

If this photo doesn't give you an idea of how absolutely friggin hilarious this lady is (yup her weave was ON FIRE), then i don't know what will... there were definitely a ton of rated R and beyond references in this one, but the laughter did not stop! Telling ya ladies, grab your girls and go see this one! Not to mention that Chris Evans.... H-O-T-T-I-E and yes, you get some topless scenes to drool over his impeccable chest! (shh, dont tell hubs that! hehe)


After the movie, we hit up a little shopping... i didn't score anything majorly exciting... just a couple pairs of jeans... i heart American Eagle... even though i'm 5'5" i seem to have short stumpy legs. Boo. But Yay for American Eagle with their lengths... and the fact that their jeans have some stretch because im as fat as a whale rocks as well!

This was definitely $35 well spent... especially because i don't have to hem them... we'll see what happens once i throw them in the wash... they're a tiny bit big around the waist, so i threw on a belt today.


My other purchases weren't really news worthy. I'll try to get some OOTD pics up after i wear them. There is one purple shirt i sort of love, but not sure how it looks ON me...

This looks like a cute summery tunic for the days when its not quite hot enough for short sleeves, or if you work in a freezer like i do and constantly have to wear cardigans. thank god for the snuggie ma dukes just got me. i can't wait to see the look on my co-workers faces when i break that bad boy out. in august. bahahaha.

Confessions of a Shopaholic.

SIGH. Its a vicious cycle i tell ya... this whole shopping thing. Here's what went down...

Embarked on a lunch trip today to f21 to find C a dress for a "backyard white trash wedding". yes, i know what you're thinking... and yes, its probably the same thing i was thinking when she mentioned it... which was probably the same thing she was thinking when she got invited to it...

That bizarreness aside, i just happened to stumble upon THE. CUTEST. TOP. like everrrrrrr... (like oh moi gawd...SO cute)

it actually looks SO much cuter in person... hopefully the weather cooperates this weekend and i can wear it to dinner with G and his family (i'm meeting his brother for the first time tomorrow night----eeek!) what kinds of pants/bottoms do you think i should pair this with?

I picked up a few more things that i really didn't needed (of course none of which i can even find on the website) and then we went to our fav mall eatery (and a few of yours too!)

OH! and i wanted to show you this lovely that i picked up late last week... i forgot to bring a clutch for AC (yes its a lame excuse but im sticking to it). i admit, it was a little pricey, but for reals girls, it totally ROCKS.

channeling my inner bad ass with the leather and the rhinestones/studs. like i said, it was a bit more than i would normally pay for a no name clutch, but i definitely think i can get lots of use out of it. what do you think?

oh yeah, and i also picked me up one of these bad boys... (hi, im shay and im a shopaholic) IN MY DEFENSE, i only paid $30 for it.

(Note: this isn't the exact one. coach's stupid website wouldn't let me copy the photo.) Sooooo, i had a store credit to Lord & Taylor from a bazillion (ok 2) years ago that was about to expire. Figuring we're going to Myrtle next month and i'd like to not have to lug Sir Speedster all around (he weighs like 10 lbs no joke) i'd get something a little smaller and more manageable. Yup, i am the queen of justifying all my purchases. Luckily the credit i had was for $107 buckaroos, so i got this sweet baby for 30 bucks. SCORE!

ANYWAY. there ya have it... the reasons why i will be eating cereal and mac and cheese for the next 2 weeks til i get paid. On a positive note... besides the fact i have cool stuff, i didn't break out my credit cards once. Nope all this stuff that i absolutely didn't needed was paid for by my cold hard earned cash. See, that's the sweet silver lining to this post... hahaha...

Took a trip to Target yesterday on our lunch break and found some great bargains i wanted to share with you lovelies! (some of these weren't "bargains" per se, but it was also a PINK themed shopping trip!)

I was personally thrilled with the beach mat since i live at the Jersey shore in the summer. Yup, there. i said it. I live at the Jersey Shore in the summah... well not THAT Jersey shore... my shore looks more like this (snooki-free).

Anyway, i thought it was a super cute find, and nice and small so i can throw it in my beach bag and go!

In other news, i've decided that as much as i do love the Jersey Shore, i think i'd like to go away for my birthday. Its in June, so beach/beach bar weather will have just started. I did Headliners last year and it was a blast but i think im ready for something a little more low key this year.
