The Nail Files

Quick link up today for my NOTW...

After stalking numerous CVS, Walgreens, Ulta and Rite-Aids,
my search finally ended not with the Milani polish i was looking for,
but this awesome China Glaze color.

Ain't nothing wrong with a little "Bump N Grind"
as the name of this nail polish suggests.

And the fun Texture was just what i was looking for!
With no top coat needed, this polish was super fast drying,
and though it chipped throughout the week, touch-ups were a cinch!

Highs & Lows

Posting late Wednesday night, since i've been slammed at work all week. Figure it might be easier to break the week so far down into bullet points, since a lot has been going on...

Highs
  • The weather. Um HELLO spring summer whatever this is. i got 3 words for ya. See ya Uggs! back into the closet you go and HELLO new flats!
  • Speaking of flats, i can't seem to stop spending. But, i've gotten some decent stuff that i'll be posting about on the blog when i have some more time.
  • I finally beat Level 102 of Candy Crush Saga. Yes, this is a high. Yes, this is embarassing. #getalife
  • After hitting up about 5 stores, i finally found a coveted nail polish (which you'll see in my Nail Files link up on Friday)
  • House of Lies Pain Cupcakes. G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S. i may be actually contemplating eating my second of the day as i type this...

Lows
  • Allergies. Comes with the weather. As does a stinkbug i just had to kill since hubby's working late tonight. For a hot minute, i seriously thought about knocking on my next door neighbors door to come kill it.
  • Remember those flats i was so jazzed about wearing? They came complete with huge painful blisters on my heels. Both of 'em. I was practically crawling through Target to get to the Band-Aid aisle.
  • Laundry. It's a pain in the buttski. I have 2 loads waiting to be folded. Ain't nobody got time fo' dat!
  • My car, Salti is not happy. Her Aux Jack broke this week... in addition to the oil change, tire rotation, pressure sensor and probably brakes needing service, this is no bueno.
  • And lastly, this sweet little face is no longer with us... my cousin lost her best friend this week and we're all so so sad.
RIP Puffy Boy - the rainbow bridge welcomes you.

www.rainbowbridge.com
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Rants and Raves Friday

I'm doing a fun new link up with my girl Shannon over at Page Twenty-two today...

Let's get started, shall we?

----------  R A N T -----------

This Physician's Formula Felt Tip Eye Marker that I picked up in my Ulta Haul the other night. My second day using it and the verdict is still hate, hate, hate. Barely anything even comes out of the tip and it tugs on my lids SO MUCH. If Ulta wasn't so far, i'd totally be returning this thing. Good thing it was under $10.

----------  R A V E -----------

Jillian Michaels is no joke people! Even when it comes to yoga. I picked this up last week in the midst of a donut induced coma and tried it last night. This bish works you out! If you're looking for a good yoga video you found it. But let me warn you, its hard core, strength training -- not this relaxi taxi, ohm easy stuff i was thinking it would be. Did i mention i can't lift my arms today? Damn you side planks (even though i only did half of them. and i kept falling over)!

----------  R A N T -----------

Let's title this rant - "people at work suck" and leave it at that.
You know who you are.

(even though these people do not read my blog.
only the cool ones do!)

on the plus side, its Friday, so i'll have 2 glorious days off from being in a constant state of annoyance.
Margaritas anyone?

----------  R A V E -----------

i always read my blogs thru Google Reader. i tried other readers here and there, and despite the hiccups with reader that irritated me from time to time, i just stuck with it. But lo and behold, now that i've switched over to bloglovin', i am totally mc-lovin it! plus there's an app for it. who doesn't love reading blogs on the go?

What are your rants and raves for the week?
Link up so i can see!

P.S. 3-peat with posting this week! Boo-ya!

Ulta Haul

So i hit up Ulta yesterday, with my trusty 20% off coupon.
Super excited since i was running low on a few things and also needed a new Clarisonic brush head and those puppies are pricey!

Here's what i got along with some first impressions:

: Clarisonic Acne Brush Head :
Thoughts -- So far, so good... being that you're supposed to replace these brushes every 3 months, and being that the last time i replaced mine was almost 3 YEARS (oops!) ago, i am liking this brush for acne prone skin! the one i had before was for "sensitive" skin, so we'll see if there's a difference! The amount of makeup this thing takes off is crazy!

: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - Milan :
i LOVE this stuff. first of all, ya can't beat the price point, $5.99 #pleaseandthankyou. Second, the staying power of this color is fantastic... you can even eat and drink and the product stays put! its a bit weird to get used to at first, because it literally feels like there is nothing on your lips, and at times, they almost feel a little on the dry side. but the color is super bright and super matte. if you're looking for a change up from a gloss, definintely check this lip cream out. i also have the color amsterdam, which is a brighter orangey-red that i have yet to wear out. once spring hits, i'll be breaking that out!

: Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation - Warm Golden :
This right now is my holy grail of foundations. I tried it a while back and have posted on Instagram and the blog about it, but I just need to put it out there again. This foundation is thebomb.com. No diggity. No doubt. It lasts all day, has a flawless finish and is under $15. Be still my heart. LOL. I picked up my second jar of it and it will be a staple beauty product as we head into spring. I'll be interested to see how it holds up as the weather gets warmer!

: Physician's Formula Eye Definition Felt Tip Marker - Ultra Black :
Well dolls, unfortunately there had to be 1 thing i purchased that i considered a fail. And for me, it was this eyeliner. Now, this is a preliminary review since i only used it for the first time this morning. But, i gotta say, i'm not loving it. The marker didn't feel "wet" enough, it didn't glide nicely along my lash line and it took several layers to get it to fill in. I actually ended up going over it with my Too Faced 3-way Liner AND some UD Naked Basics shadow. I'll give it another go this week, but i was not impressed.

:Revlon Lip Butter - Sweet Tart :
This lip butter has been on my list to pick up for a while now. I love these lip butters, they have decent coverage/color and feel so nice and creamy on your lips! this is such a fun bright pink springy color, i can't wait to wear it!

:NYX Round Case Lipstick - Gala :
I haven't tried any of the NYX regular lipsticks so i picked this up, come on, it was $4, how could i resist? The color seems a bit on the light side for my skin tone, but i'm going to see what i can mix it with before i give up on it totally. It looked really nice in the tube, so i'm hoping i can make this work!

Last but not least, i grabbed

: Maybelline Dream Lumi Concealer - Nude :
This is also a repeat buy for me. I love how this concealer paints on and is very easy to use, and not messy. I use it under my eyes, AFTER foundation, to highlight -- aka the Kim K look of having highlights under the eyes. My only gripe, i wish there was more product in each tube! I feel like i went thru this fairly quickly. It's only $8 but still, i wouldn't mind it lasting longer!

So there was my Ulta Haul for the week. I'm on a mission to find one more thing -- a Milani Texture nail polish that i want to try, and then i should be set... til next week for a while!

What are some of your favorite products from Ulta?

Coming and Going

Well look who decided to show up today...

----->  this girl!!!
love these comics!

yup, i know. shocking.
it's been a hot minute since i've enriched your lives with a blog post.

And i know you don't want to hear all the usual excuses, but... they haven't changed.

SO, in bulleted form, here's what's been going on lately...

  • Work work and more work. Busy season is upon us. And as usual, i'm overloaded. #whatelseisnew

  • The Lenten Beauty Ban has ended. I challenged myself to not buy any beauty products for Lent and it was a success. So much of a success that i was rewarded by being taken off the wait list for my Ipsy Glam Bag, and that magical bag of goodies is on it's way to me as we speak!

  • Easter = family + good eats + Phase10 (a fun card game) + Starburst Jelly Beans. #heisrisen

  • The 5 Love Languages - on the current reading list.

  • Paying off not 1, not 2, but THREE credit cards. BOOM!

  • Self taught website making guru -- check out my brother's new website www.cjccopywriting.com. Boo-ya!

  • New music this week -- Blake, Luke, Kacey Musgraves, JT, and Ed Sheeran on the iPod! Woot woot!
What's been new in your neck of the woods?
