Neon Yellow French Mani

Today's post is short and sweet...
Linking up to show off my cool nails for this week...

Today's nails are brought to you by the letter's Y for YELLOW
and P for Pain the arse! LOL

Here's the PINspiration for the look:

And here's how they turned out.

The color I used is called "Did I Dye It Too Blonde" by Spoiled...
I used french manicure tape to achieve this look, plus a paintbrush with acetone nail polish to clean up the edge.
But... I had to put about 4 coats of the yellow to get the color to show up.
And IRL it does NOT look as neon as the above pic or the color in the bottle.
I didn't use "nude" nail polish, just clear to finish it off... which i needed about 2 coats of that.
So these puppies took a WHILE to dry (note to self: don't start a manicure like this at 10:30 at night)

All in all, i'll keep them on. And if i try them next time, i think i'll try a coat of white first and then paint the neon yellow over that and see how it turns out.

The most bizarre leggings you'll ever see.

I was perusing FB the other day when I saw an article a friend had shared that was
way TOO crazy not to click on.

The title of the article was:

China 'Hair Stockings' May Help Scare Off 'Perverts,' Everyone

Uhhhhh, say what?! So of course i had to click and lo and behold...

EWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

i mean, i get it. NO ONE likes a creeper.

but don't you think you'd get more (so be it negative) attention wearing these?!
and... what if there was a non-creepy guy that you actually WANTED to attract in the same vicinity as the creepers? then what?

i hope y'all are laughing as much as i am just thinking about the possible scenarios these leggings could provide.

which, hmmm, i might have to order a pair to "surprise" G when he comes home late, slides into bed... and feels some hairy leg action. that could possibly be the.best.prank.ever...
just imagining his reaction is priceless.

Would YOU ever wear leggings like this?
(do i even need to ask this question? i think not.)

Sometimes life is just unfair...

Taking a moment today to write about something that's hitting close to home. The following is an article about a man that was beaten to death over a parking accident dispute. Let that sink in. BEATEN TO DEATH. over a parking accident.

The article on ABC news reads:
The victim of a fatal beating was doing a favor for an acquaintance, giving him a ride.
It was the last thing he would do.
Now police are looking for the man who beat and killed 70-year-old Robert Sabio over minor incident that took place in a parking spot.
It happened in Irvington, New Jersey.
"This is something that only happens in the newspaper or on TV, it doesn't happen to anybody you know," said Linda Sabio, widow.
But sadly, the worst has happened to Linda Sabio's family.
Her beloved husband of nearly 44 years is dead, the victim of a vicious beating after a minor parking dispute.
"If anyone did not deserve to die the way he did, it was him. He didn't have one mean streak or bad bone in his body. He did nothing but good to everyone," Sabio said.
But police say what happened to 70-year-old Robert Sabio last Wednesday night on Springfield Avenue in Irvington was far from good.
He dropped off a friend and was pulling out of a parking space just in front of Casey's Tavern, when he bumped a car behind him. There was little or no damage but a dispute erupted. Sabio was badly beaten, rushed to the hospital, and died two days later.
An electronic message board on the street is now asking for help in finding the individuals from that other car.
"We would urge anybody who was in that area at the time to come forward," said Carolyn Murray, Acting Essex County Prosecutor.
As investigators examine security video and search for witnesses, those who live and work in this neighborhood don't seem surprised by the violent attack.
"It's a bad neighborhood. Stupid things happen here, frequently," said Bob Wibber, a store manager.
Senseless is how the Sabio family describes it, as they struggle with the loss of a beloved, husband, father, and grandfather.
"He's 70 years old. He had a bad hip. He wasn't real steady on his feet. They didn't have to do what they did," Sabio said.
The man killed was my dad's cousin. Granted, i only met him once or twice when i was very young, but still, he was family. And my heart is hurting that such senseless violence took his life. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather. And now he is gone. Because of a parking accident. Unreal. Its just sad to think that there are people in this world dying from wars and famine and disease. And yet, people in this country are being killed over things like PARKING. Is it just me or does this seem ludicrous?

Today, I'm praying for my dad and his family that they find the evil people that did this and punish them. And RIP cousin Bobby.

Summer Must Haves

With the warm summer weather upon us, and my free birthday gift waiting at Sephora, i knew it was time to mosey on into the store to see what products i needed wanted needed for the summer. These 5 things i picked up are all must-haves in my book and they just scream summer to me.

Let's have a looksie.

1. Benefit Hoola Bronzer -- this has been on my list for a while, and i decided to treat myself. it is the perfect shade of brown for tan skin and creates a flawless and natural contour. I also love the shape of the brush that it comes with.

2. Eyeko Liquid Eyeliner Trio -- i may or may not have watched an hour of product demos on HSN the other day. So i was quite surprised to see this in my local Sephora. Because I had resisted temptation to be the 2,301st person to order it after seeing it online, i figured, this was a sign from God to pick it up and try it. And so far, it does not disappoint. It creates the perfect wing and the pen glides on nice and smoothly. My only hiccup is that i'm not sure i'm loving the brown in the trio. its sort of light for me...

3. Christian Dior Addict Lip Glow -- after reading former Bachelorette Emily Maynard's blog post on this stuff, i immediately added it to my "lust list". It's a Christian Dior product, so i knew it would be pricey, but i have to say, this might be the best $31 i've ever spent on a lip product. No lie. And why you might ask? Well, the description reads: Formulated with color reviver technology, this silky lipstick reacts with the chemistry of your lips to create a special shade that will last all day. And it just somehow changes the color to make the nicest most flattering, soft, natural color on your lips, even though it goes on clear like a balm. LOVE LOVE LOVE (well except for the price tag)...

4. Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray -- who doesn't love beachy waves and beachy hair during the summer... and with my ombre, waves go perfectly with my look. i was skeptical about how i would like this product but it worked great in my hair. i showered, towel dried and sprayed it on, scrunched the ends a bit and by the time it dried, i had soft beachy waves. Perfection!

5. Lavanila Rollerball Perfume in Vanilla Grapefruit -- one whiff of this scent sends you to tropical heaven. the citrus of the grapefruit combined with the sweet vanilla is THE perfect combo. Its light and summery and trust me, you'll be creepily smelling yourself all day long...

What products are on your summer must haves list? Let me know so i have another excuse to go back to sephora! (wink!)

Disclaimer: All products were bought with my own money and reviewed by me.

These are my confessions...

Morning lovelies!

Now that i'm trying to get back in the blog game, i figured what better way to end the week with a few confessions. So let's just dive right in, mmm kay?

I confess... i'm sitting in my office chanting "you do NOT want a donut, you do NOT want a donut" repeatedly. a co-worker brought in 4 boxes of them for National Donut Day. SIGH. #destinedtobeafatblobforever

I confess... i'm obsessed with my new ride. i got a hybrid 2 weeks ago and i have been checking the gas mileage and watching the "Energy Flow" panel to see how much gas i'm using. AND, i was super excited today when the dash said i was getting 40.6 mpg! Wowie!

I confess... i hate dealing with insurance companies. they'll cover A but not B, and then part of C but not D. it's enough to make your head spin! plus G and i have different insurances right now. so let's just make it as extremely confusing as possible.

I confess... as much as i want it to be summer, the ONLY reason i wish it was fall is for my shows to come back on. Can we say WTF Nashville?! Hart of Dixie, who will Zoe choose? And we finally meet the mother in How I Met Your Mother... i still have to catch up on the rest of Grey's Anatomy and Revenge too...

What are YOUR confessions?

Because I'm Pretty Hungry...

I figured I'd do a Pinteresting Wednesday post on some food things that i want to try.
We're trying real hard to get on the healthy eating train in my house. Well, G is already there and going hard with his gluten-free/dairy-free, can't eat anything that doesn't taste like cardboard diet. I've been following along a weeee bit more loosely. But since summer is upon us, it's time to get my butt into gear.

I've been really into smoothies every morning. they are healthy and nutritious, and most of DELICIOUS! I definitely want to see how some of these are.

This chicken looks tasty, even though the asparagus will make your pee stink! hee hee hee...

Who doesn't love banana bread... especially CLEAN banana bread! I'm definitely going to have to make this soon!

Spinach/feta turkey burgers, YUMMO!

Just a few yummy looking pins for today!
