Fall is around the corner...

and that means BOOT season is coming!

Seriously peeps! I am excited.
I haven't done much online shopping lately, as i've been trying to pinch pennies and kill off some bills. But when i got this email from Urbanog.com today, i broke down.

These can be yours for just $35.20

I've been wanting these beauties since last year, when the awesome Katie from KC&CO blogged about them, but sadly they were sold out. But they're back! And soooo reasonably priced! And with an extra 20% off? This purchase was a no brainer.

I also spent much of last year looking for a pair of black flat boots and when i stumbled upon these, i knew they'd be going in my shopping cart as well.
They're screaming, Put me in your cart dammit!

So go run and  "Like" Urbanog.com on FB so you can save 20% like i did! Whoo hoo!

Happy Shopping Bargainistas!

Weekend Fun

Hello Lovelies! Happy (or unhappy) Monday!
Another long week ahead of us... let's hope it flies by!

Our weekend was pretty low key.  We were hoping for some sun so we could hit the beach or the pool, but mother nature had other ideas.

Friday night after work we headed to dinner at our favorite Greek restaurant called Taverna Ouza.

Its this cute little place with the most authentic and delicious greek food. G got lamb chops (his favorite) and i got fire-grilled salmon with avocado tziki (sp?) sauce... it was amazeballs. G's Staten Island friends were in town for the night so we met up with them for some drinks and good conversation.

Saturday, our designated beach/pool day got off to a chilly start. G had to do a quick HVAC call, and afterwards we grabbed some lunch. My parents were at a BBQ so we headed to their house to let the dogs out (who let the dogs out... we did, omg corny!) And then we went to see Batman.

Great movie, anne hathaway made the perfect catwoman. And i love Joseph Gordon-Levitt, he's just the cutest. Definitely a go-see movie. Though i still love the previous Batman with the Joker more. Unfortunately, with how loud the movie was, i came home with a killer migraine and was pretty much dunzo for the night.

Sunday, G had to work, so i lounged in bed, and watched The Roommate. Which was possibly one of the worst "thrillers" i've seen. Don't waste your time on it. Thought I 'd like it because i love me some blair waldorf (aka Leighton Meester) but... let's just say, the script and the acting were equally horrible.

By Sunday afternoon, i dragged my lazy ass to the grocery store, which i was dreading. But on the way i was able to make 1 fun pit stop at Joyce Leslie. I really haven't shopped at that store in years. If i'm going cheap, i prefer Forever 21 or Target. But my cousin had mentioned they had some cute maxi dresses there, so i figured i'd check it out. Scored an adorable blue and black striped maxi (sorry no pic yet)... and this fun cell phone/wallet case. Don't you just love the bright pink?

Once I was done with all my shopping, i headed to my parents house for some good home cooked dinner. #moocher.

How did you spend YOUR weekend?

B!tch Session

I'm in such a complain-y mood today, so i figured where better to vent out my frustrations than here on the blog. I mean, this is an outlet for the good & the bad in life right? So here we go.

  • I have a killer headache that i can't seem to shake. Its not bad enough to be a migraine, but not mild enough to only be an annoyance. And PSA, Tylenol does Jack Shit for a headache.

  • Hubs and I got into a major throw down last night. Over a t-shirt. It was just a miscommunication that blew up into a bunch of other things, but a shouting match followed by some girl tears (mine, not his). Things are better today, but i'm still not totally over it. #dramaqueen

  • The workplace is either feast or famine. Don't get me wrong, i'm thankful to have a job, yada yada... but piling 30 projects on me 2 months ago, and now i have not a thing to do for a month, to get slammed again come the fall is a bit annoying. I know i should be taking advantage of the "free time" but boy does that clock sure tick slow when there's nothing to do.

  • In addition to that, i have to deal the most annoying girl outside my office. i feel somewhat bad saying that because i don't think she knows HOW annoying she truly is, but sweetheart, NO ONE cares about your stupid pet TURTLE. its a turtle, not a dog... its not normal for you to call yourself "mommy" to it, to take it to "visit" people, and to tell it to stop clunking around when you're watching tv. Also, though unrelated, please keep your shoes on in the office. If i hear you ask one more person, "i took my shoes off, do my feet stink?" i am straight up going to vomit.

  • i've decided to go on a shopping ban for the month of august to see how much extra i can save/pay bills off. i think that alone is making me quite cranky. but the dog is going to need a teeth cleaning soon, so mama has to save up about $300 bones to get that done.
So there you have it. Thank god we're 1 day closer to the weekend... Rant over.

A Bright Sunshiney Day...

And boy it really is here in dirty Jersey... the thermometer in my car is reading in the 90s. Though the heat is just oppressive...

In happier news, G got a job! (Insert angelic choir here). He starts in August after he finishes out his current temp job at NikeTown (hello new kicks for the both of us!) So thank you for all your prayers, they definitely helped!

And... i got an award... the gorgeous Jenn at Going the Distance nominated me for this fun award. Thanks girlfriend! Check out her blog, its fun and always has some yummy looking recipes!

Rules of the Award:

  1. Include the award log either in your acceptance post or somewhere on your blog.
  2. Answer 10 questions about yourself.
  3. Pass the award on to 10-12 other deserving bloggers.
  4. Add a link on your post to all of the talented winners and comment on their page to let them know they've been deemed amazing.
  5. Thank the brilliant soul that recognized your talent and bestowed this wonderful award on you...and of course link back to them as well.

And just when you thought you knew everything about me...
1. What would you most like to change about yourself?
I think I would want to be less high strung and uptight. I tend to be a control freak, and letting go and not worrying so much about the future would help.
2.  What is your theme song?
My theme song is my blog title. Its called Sweet Silver Linings by Kate Voegle (some of you may know her from One Tree Hill). Its basically about a girl who is trying to find herself, after getting knocked down a bit. She still finds the positive things in her life and knows there's a reason for everything.
3.  One part of your life, a memory, action, etc. that you wish you could surgically remove from your brain?
I'm agreeing with the other ladies in saying that everything happens for a reason. But if i had to pick one thing, i'd remove ever having broken my leg. Even 3 years later, my leg is still not the same and the pain and rehab i went thru was horrendous.
4. What generation do you wish you had been a part of?
I like being a 70's child. Though maybe i'd pick a 2000's kid, they have everything. My cousins have cell phones, iPads, laptops... kids to me seem a bit more spoiled these days, and i wouldn't mind reaping some of those benefits. LOL
5. What was your favorite childhood toy?
Hmmm, toss up between my Cabbage Patch Kid and my little Winnie-the-Pooh doll. The Pooh i didn't get til i was about 11 or 12, but my brother (2 years younger) bought it for me with his own money and that meant the world to me.
6. What is your favorite housecleaning chore?
Can I say none of the above? I guess if i had to pick, it would be making the bed. Even though we don't do that everyday, i just like how nice and clean it makes the room look. And getting into a bed with fresh sheets is heaven.
7. Do you Twitter?
I do... though i've been slacking lately. You can hit me up @shay611
8. Any goals?
To pay off our debts and buy a house. That's at the top of the list. And to have a bambino or two. Oh and to have a closet like Emily Maynard, but that goal probably won't happen unless we get a money tree.
9. Do you really drink margaritas all the time?
Actually no, i almost NEVER drink margaritas. Tequilla and i do NOT get along. Thank you NYE 2008. I stick with mojitos, sangria or wine.
10. What is the ugliest car you've ever driven and were embarrassed to be seen in?
Actually all my cars have been pretty decent. Looking back out of all of them, i was dying to get my civic coupe, but now i think that car was butt ugly. Other than that, i've had pretty decent cars luckily.

OK here's who i nominate:
b.mary & blessed
Only in Vegas

Stilettos and a fishing pole
Nothing Rhymes with Rachel

A little bit of this & that
SimplyLyndsay
Love, Lipstick & Pearls

A Modern Suburbanites Life
busy bee
Life After the Aisle

Check out all these rockin blogs when you have time. Happy Tuesday! I'm off to dinner with one of my girls tonight! Can't wait!

When the Going Gets Tough...

You pour yourself a big margarita and drink yourself into oblivion.

No? That's not how it works? My bad...
Another week of not posting... my brain is all over the place lately.
Mostly trying to keep track of hubs work schedule... meshing it with my work schedule... and making sure our fur child gets to "doggie daycare" at grandma's house.
Other than that, it's been business as usual around these parts.

My lack of posting? Sheer laziness people. I can't even lie about it.
And... our weekends consist of us being fat bastards and nothing more.

This is how our weekends go down. We get up, eat... go back to bed, watch tv shows about eating, get hungry, go eat, relax in front of the tv... inevitably end up on some sort of food show, G wants a snack... we eat a snack, and then decide the snack has made us hungry for an actual meal... so we go back out and eat some more... followed by coming home to watch more tv and finish it off by eating one last time before melting into the ultimate fat food coma. Once we get up the next morning, the whole vicious cycle repeats itself. This is how marriage is supposed to work, no? ;P

This was one of my favorite food shows of the weekend: Chicken Charlie's. Straight up made me want to buy a plane ticket to Cali just so i could check out his deep fried stand.

In other news... ok who am i kidding, i have no other news. The point of this post was to basically let you's all (i sound so hood) know that i'm still alive and kicking and eating as referenced above.
i have no fun instagram pics, i have no fun tweets, i have no fun things to share with you right now. we're just trucking along hoping for a better tomorrow aka a permanent job for G. and a money tree.

Until then we'll just P.U.S.H. (Pray Until Something Happens) -- i just stumbled across this today and i love it.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

FAVORITE TV SHOW
My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding
Two words:
GIRL FIGHT!!!!
Hands down the best entertainment I've seen in a while on reality tv.
I gotta say, I'd be pretty scurred to throw down with either one of these who-ores, but i think mellie definitely won that round! If you haven't caught it, check it out on TLC. I think its on Sunday nights... not sure as my days are all screwed up from having off Wednesday.

FAVORITE NAIL POLISH
I recently got a few new colors from Zoya from their Beach and Surf collection, and am absolutely loving me some of this color:

I plan on doing something fun for this weekend, so stay tuned for some Instagram pics!

FAVORITE TALK SHOW HOST(ESS)

The always polished, supremely gorgeous, and so so so so funny Kelly Ripa.
Working from home more often has led to me being able to have Live with Kelly on, and can I tell you how adorable she is! Plus I love that her co-host rotates with all different celebs!

What are your favorites this Friday?

When Life Hands You Lemons

Make lemonade! Or better yet, some sort of yummy alcoholic mind-numbing drink!

Tough times have hit the Cambareri household.
SIGH.

My husband lost his job last week.

I'm trying to keep the faith that something bigger and better is out there for him. And in a way, this could be a blessing in disguise. The people he worked with were not very nice or professional. And the building where he worked had some asbestos issues that the higher ups chose to ignore. SO, at the end of the day, I know that God has a better plan for us, we just have to keep the faith.

But, if you guys out there can send us some extra warm fuzzies, prayers or well wishes, we'd appreciate that too.
